Mpirimpa can be played with 2 to 4 players. In a 4-player game, players usually form two teams of two.
What cards are used in Mpirimpa?
Mpirimpa is played with two standard decks of 52 cards each, plus four Jokers (so 108 cards in total). Jokers and Twos are considered wild cards.
What is the goal of the game?
The main objective is to create combinations of cards (called melds), pick up the mpirimpa pile, and score the most points by forming melds and going out before your opponents.
What is a "Mpirimpa"?
A mpirimpa is a special meld made of seven or more cards of the same kind or a straight of seven cards. It can be either clean (no wild cards) or dirty (with wild cards). Clean mpirimpas are worth more points.
How does a player & "go out"?
A player can go out (end the round) only after their team has picked up the mpirimpa pile and they have no cards left in hand. Going out earns bonus points.
Can I play Mpirimpa online?
Yes! You can play Mpirimpa online with friends or against the computer.
Are there penalties in Mpirimpa?
Yes. For example, if a player goes out and the opponents are still holding cards, the point values of those cards are subtracted from the opponent’s total.
Are there penalties in Mpirimpa?
* Clean melds contain no wild cards (Jokers or Twos).
*Dirty melds include one or more wild cards.
Clean melds score more when calculating mpirimpas.
How is the game scored?
Each card has a point value (e.g., Jokers = 50 pts, Aces = 15 pts, etc.). Points are awarded for melds and mpirimpas, and deducted for cards left in hand at the end of the round.
